We believe that yoga is for everybody and every body. But the reality is not everybody and every body feels safe, welcome, or comfortable in traditional wellness spaces.
Join Brittany Anderson and Cassandra Lam for a transformative workshop series that centers and celebrates people of color (Black, Brown, Asian, and Indigenous individuals) of all ages, abilities, and genders.
July's Theme: Our Relationship to Our Bodies
Yoga Teacher | Meditation and Breathwork | Energy Practitioner
Brittany is a RYT (registered yoga teacher) who believes everyone has the power to heal themselves. Harnessing the transformative powers of movement,
breath, and deep internal listening, Brittany hopes to make visible the tools for growth and compassion that we each have inside.
Community Builder | Yoga Teacher | Activist
Cassandra is on a mission to change the way people live and work from the inside out. Working at the intersection of wellness, social justice, and community, she is passionate about helping people connect to their bodies and thoughts to create reality. She is a 200-hour RYT and graduate of Woom Center in NYC. As co-founder of The Cosmos, she's dedicated to empowering women to live their best lives on their own terms.
Mindfulness practices contribute to healthier lifestyles, but all too often, those of us that need and deserve access to these tools are left out of the conversation.
Time, money, and lack of diversity in the wellness world often prevent people of color from comfortably accessing resources, knowledge, and tools for wellness.
Our 3-hour Yoga for People of Color workshop strives to gather people of color in a supportive space that promotes empowerment, healing, and connection to our selves and our community while inspiring important dialogue.
The workshop will include a 1-hour slow flow yoga class, activities, and thoughtfully facilitated discussion (with time for questions!) on topics such as:
- What is mindfulness, yoga, and self-care? How can these practices help me in my everyday life?
- Addressing common misconceptions and stereotypes about yoga
- Benefits of a yoga practice: managing stress, calming the nervous system, mental health, physical health and mobility
- Overcoming guilt related to self-care, self-love, and self-preservation
- How to start an affordable yoga practice
Sliding scale pricing: $30-45. We appreciate your consideration of what you can reasonably offer as it will support our ability to host more workshops.
